India's golden triangle is a tourist circuit which connects the national capital Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. The Golden Triangle is so called because of the triangular shape formed by the locations of New Delhi, Agra and Rajasthan on a map. The trips usually start in Delhi moving south to the site of Taj Mahal at Agra, then west, to the desert landscapes of Rajasthan.

It is normally possible to do the trip by coach or private journey. The Golden Triangle is now a well-traveled route providing a good spectrum of the country's different landscapes. The circuit is about 720 km by road. Each leg is about 4 to 6 hours of drive. The Shatabdi express train also connects Delhi with Agra and Jaipur.
Rajasthan the land of kings is about the story of warriors and their chivalry, romance, glory and tragedy in fairy tale proportions…… The magic of vibrant Rajasthan - its rich heritage, colorful culture, exciting desert safaris, shining sand-dunes, amazing variety lush forests and varied wildlife - makes it a destination nonpareil.

It is an incredible destination for the outdoor-tourist – take a safari on horses, camels, elephants or even in jeeps, with the Aravalis - India's oldest mountain range as the backdrop.

Rajasthan has something for everyone – one just has to choose an activity appropriate to one's temperament.

Some of the must-see destinations of Rajasthan include Alwar, Ajmer Pushkar, Bikaner, Bundli, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Kota, Mount Abu, Ranthambore, Shekhawati, and Udaipur.

The mixture and brilliance of Rajasthan's architectural heritage can amaze a visitor. Majestic forts, intricately carved temples and havelis (meaning mansion) and even step wells make Rajasthan a paradise for an architecture buff. The desert State of Rajasthan is a land of irony and extremes. Rajasthan is also home to some of India's most romantic cities. The Rajputs were prolific builders and have dotted the arid Aravali landscape with their legacy of some most imposing and magnificent forts and palaces in the world. Some of the prominent structures that represent the architectural heritage of Rajasthan are Jantar Mantar, Dilwara Temples, Chittaurgarh Fort, Lake Palace Hotel, City Palace and Jaisalmer havelis.

Rajasthan is culturally rich and has extensive tradition in art and culture, which reflects the Indian way of life. The dance, music and art forms have been consciously cultivated and patronized by the erstwhile royal courts. The music is of uncomplicated innocence and songs depict day-to-day relationships and chores, more often about the bringing of water.

The cuisine of Rajasthan is primarily vegetarian and offers a fabulous variety of mouthwatering dishes. The spice content is quite high in comparison to other Indian cuisines, but the food is absolutely scrumptious. Rajasthanis use ghee for cooking most of the dishes. Rajasthani food is well known for its spicy curries and delicious sweets. Rajasthan has a lot to offer. Infact, as you travel from one part of the state to another, you'll find that every region has something unique, which reflects in its food as well. There is a popular sweet of each region like Mawa Kachori of Jodhpur, Rasogullas of Bikaner, Ghevar of Jaipur, Malpuas of Pushkar etc.

The main spoken language of Rajasthan is Hindi. Other local dialects like Marwari, Jaipuri/Dhundhari, Malvi/Malwi, and Mewati are also widely spoken. However, English language is also very-well understood by the locals. Rajasthan state possesses a tropical desert climate. Its extremely cold from October to February. Summers (March to September) are really hot and dry. Best time to visit Rajasthan is during winters. The major reason for it is that all the major fairs and festivals of Rajasthan are celebrated during this time.

Rajasthan is often portrayed as one vast open-air museum, with its relics so well preserved that it delights even the most skeptical traveler. If you are on a journey to explore the colorful and culturally vibrant lands of India, then you surely cannot afford to bail out the royal state of Rajasthan. The land of the Rajput clan, Rajasthan has such an enriching cultural heritage that the tour of India will turn vague if left without it.

The West coast was visited by the Persians and the Europeans, who came to trade in spices and textiles. In the North, rulers from Central Asia plundered India for her wealth and stayed back to savoir her many pleasures and beauty. The Mughals came as invaders, later the British came as traders. Both stayed on to rule for many years and left a lasting impact on Indian culture and traditions. There are 32 World Heritage Sites in India that are recognized by (UNESCO) as of 2014.Of these 32 sites, 25 are cultural sites and the other seven are natural sites. The cultural sites in India are marked by their brilliant craftsmanship on stone. India’s cultural heritage dates back to 5000 years. Very few countries in the world has a social and religious structure which withstood invasions and persecution and yet kept its identity by being resilient enough to absorb, ignore or reject all attempts to radically change or destroy them. Indian culture is unique because of its diversity and variety in physical, religious, racial, linguistic and artistic fields. In India religion is a way of life being an integral part of Indian tradition. Many dances, theatrics and folklore are religious and based on Indian mythology and folk legends. One has to have background knowledge of Indian mythology to enjoy and appreciate the Indian Arts.
Experiencing the rich Indian heritage also means enjoying classical music from gharanas all over the country, finding peace in the spirituality of the many faiths, celebrating the many festivals and melas, including the magnificent Kumbh Mela, relaxing in the lush and gentle backwaters of Kerala also known for its ancient Ayurveda spas, or delighting in the fascinating textile heritage.
